ABILENE, TX – The McMurry War Hawks delivered a statement performance at Kimbrell Arena on Friday night, dismantling Hendrix College 95-65 in a dominant home conference display. From the opening tip, the War Hawks established a relentless pace, utilizing a high-powered offense and a suffocating defense to secure their seventh win of the season.
McMurry seized control early, answering an initial Hendrix lead with a clinical 9-0 scoring run midway through the first period. The momentum never shifted back, as the War Hawks headed into the locker room with a commanding 51-31 lead. The second half was more of the same, with McMurry stretching the margin to as many as 36 points. The victory was a total team effort, characterized by efficient shooting (45.6% from the field) and a massive 43-10 advantage in bench points.
Top War Hawk Performers
Dirk Johnson: Was a force in the interior, leading the team with 17 points on a highly efficient 7-of-9 shooting performance. He also dominated the glass, pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds to secure a double-double.
Jalen Cherry: Provided a versatile spark throughout his 29 minutes on the court, finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds. His presence was felt on both ends of the floor as he also contributed 2 blocks and 3 assists.
Jordan Malveaux: Led the second unit with 16 points in just 22 minutes of play. He was nearly perfect from the charity stripe, sinking 9-of-10 free-throw attempts, and added 3 steals to disrupt the Hendrix backcourt.
Koye Rondeno: Rounded out the top performers with 14 points, including two critical makes from beyond the arc. He displayed great efficiency, shooting 5-of-7 from the field while adding 3 assists.
