ABILENE, TX - The McMurry women's soccer team fell to Texas A&M-Victoria in a 1-0 shutout on Sunday at Wilford Moore Stadium. Despite the loss, the War Hawks put up a strong defensive effort, holding the Jaguars scoreless for the majority of the match.
McMurry's offense created opportunities throughout the game, with a total of eight shots and seven shots on goal. The War Hawks were led offensively by Cate Tempelmeyer and Laila Brown, who each had two shots on goal. Hailey Andrle, Alyssa Villarreal, and Katie Wilson each added a shot on goal.
In goal, Avery Anders played the first half and recorded three saves, while Cadence Foulkrod played the second half and had two saves. The War Hawks' combined five saves for the game kept them in contention until the final whistle.
McMurry next travels to Georgetown to take on the Pirates of Southwestern University on Friday, September 12, at 5:00 p.m. at Varsity Field.
