McMurry Falls to HSU in Crosstown Showdown

ABILENE, TX - The McMurry women's soccer team fell to cross-town rival Hardin-Simmons in a hard-fought 2-0 match at the HSU Soccer Complex on Thursday night. Despite the loss, the War Hawks put up a solid effort against the Cowgirls, particularly on defense.

McMurry's offense started to generate more opportunities in the second half, doubling its shot total from the first half. Goalkeepers Avery Anders and Jackie Santos combined for seven saves on the night to keep the match within reach for the majority of the game.

On offense, the War Hawks were led by Halin Griffith and Laila Brown, who each had two shots. Griffith, Katie Wilson, Cate Tempelmeyer, Cameryn Peter, and Keeli Villarreal each put a shot on goal for the War Hawks. Hailey Donaldson, Audrey Pool, and Brown also had shots on the night.
