JACKSON, MS - The McMurry women's soccer team started the 2025 season on a high note, defeating Millsaps 1-0 in a defensive battle on the road.

The lone goal of the match came in the 32nd minute, as the War Hawks' offense capitalized on relentless pressure. Senior Kaylee Worth found an open Madison Black, who netted her first goal of the season to put McMurry ahead 1-0.

The War Hawks' offense was in control for the entire match, firing off an impressive 31 shots with 14 on goal. The McMurry back line and goalkeeper Avery Anders held strong, holding Millsaps to just four shots throughout the contest.

Laila Brown led the offensive charge with six shots, four of which were on goal. Other key contributors included Halin Griffith, who added five shots, while Alyssa Villarreal and Alexis Lira each recorded four shots. Avery Anders sealed the shutout in goal with one save.
