McMurry Drops Final Game in Ozarks Series

Clarksville, AR—The McMurry War Hawks played the final game of their series with the University of the Ozarks at Wilson Complex. It was a tight contest that ended with the Eagles edging out McMurry by a score of 3-2.

The game began with both teams' defenses holding firm in the early innings as the first three innings were scoreless, with neither team able to gain a significant offensive advantage.

Ozarks was the first to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 4th by scoring their first run, taking a 1-0 lead.

McMurry struggled to answer but ultimately came alive in the top of the 6th inning. Aliyah Tanguma singled to second base, and then Angelina Kulbeth hit a 2-run home run to left center, putting the War Hawks ahead 2-1. However, Ozarks responded quickly in the bottom of the 6th, scoring two runs to retake the lead at 3-2.

Despite McMurry's efforts in the top of the 7th, they could not score, ending the game with a final of 3-2.

Key offensive contributors for McMurry included Angelina Kulbeth, who had a home run and two RBI, and Aliyah Tanguma, who scored a run. Mackenzie McClellan pitched for McMurry, allowing three runs on six hits.

The series win extends McMurry's streak of winning four straight series against SCAC opponents and gives them a 15-14 record on the season and 14-12 in conference play. The War Hawks return home next week for their final series of the season against Texas Lutheran. They will play a doubleheader on Friday, April 25th, starting at 2:00 p.m., and will hold senior day following their final game on Saturday, April 26th.
