Softball Splits Doubleheader with Centenary

Shreveport, LA - The McMurry War Hawks defeated Centenary College in a high-scoring game, 10-7 in extra innings.   

McMurry scored three runs in the first inning with RBIs from Sophia Steele, Reaghan Staehely, and Maya Mongelli. Centenary responded with two runs in the bottom of the first. 

McMurry added a run in the third inning when Thalia Reyes drove in Mercedes Camacho. Centenary scored another run in the bottom of the third.   
In the sixth inning, Marissa Cardenas's 2-RBI double extended McMurry's lead to 6-3. 

McMurry scored again in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Maya Mongelli. Centenary rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game.   

McMurry ultimately won the game in the eighth inning thanks to a 3-run homer by Mercedes Camacho.   

In the second game of the doubleheader, McMurry didn't have the same luck, dropping the game in five innings, 11-3.   

In the top of the first inning, Kaelyn Rodriguez walked, Jade Dickens singled, and then Sabrina Graf doubled to left center, driving in Rodriguez for McMurry's first run.   

McMurry did not score again until the top of the fourth inning when Aliyah Tanguma hit a two-run homer for McMurry, driving in Sophia Steele.   

McMurry was unable to score in the top of the fifth, ending the game with a final score of 11-3 due to run-rule.
