The Warriors would get runners on the corners without any out in the top of the eighth, but their attempt to score would dashed by an outfield assist by
Beckham Paul throwing out the runner on third trying to score on a flyball to left field. Hendrix College would end the inning on the next batter, squandering a scoring chance late in the game.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the ninth. The inning began with
Michael Smosna drawing a walk off the eighth Warrior pitcher of the night. Paul would then reach first on an error. Both runners would advance on a passed ball, putting Smosna on third. With one out, pinch hitter
Nolan Scherencel hit a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Smosna to score and give the War Hawks a 7-6 walk-off victory.
David Perez earned the win for McMurry, pitching the final two innings and allowing no runs. Â Â
This exciting win brings the War Hawks' record to 18-7. The series has two more games, including tonight's game at 7:00 p.m.
