McMurry Cruises to Victory Over Dallas Christian College, 87-60

BROWNWOOD, TX – The McMurry War Hawks men's basketball team secured a commanding 87-60 victory over Dallas Christian College as part of the Dallas Huston Classic, improving their season record to 5-4 overall. The War Hawks controlled the contest from the start, showcasing superior rebounding, high-volume interior scoring, and impressive depth.

The War Hawks established control quickly, leaping out to a 14-point lead in the first half and never looking back, holding on for the remainder of the contest. McMurry completely dominated Dallas Christian, building their largest lead of the game to an impressive 32 points midway through the second half.

The key to the decisive win was McMurry's ability to create and convert extra opportunities. The team won the rebounding battle 52-28, leading to a massive 26 second-chance points, compared to just 7 for Dallas Christian. The offense was efficient and flowed well, with the War Hawks shooting 44.9% from the field and dominating the paint with 40 points. Furthermore, the deep bench proved essential, contributing 38 points to the overall effort.

Top War Hawk Performers

  • Jalen Cherry: Anchored the effort with 15 points and led the team in rebounding with 10 rebounds. He was highly efficient, shooting 7-of-13 from the field, and added two assists and three steals.
  • Amari Leflore: Was the team's primary outside threat, contributing 15 points by hitting 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. He also added five rebounds and two assists.
  • JaRayl Peoples: Provided high-quality scoring off the bench with 10 points, shooting 4-of-8 from the field, and securing four rebounds.
  • Cedrick Dodd: Provided strong playmaking and interior defense, contributing 8 points and a team-high nine assists, along with six rebounds.
