ABILENE, TX – The War Hawks secured a 77-75 victory over Schreiner University in their home SCAC conference opener, extending their perfect start to the season to 5-0 (2-0 SCAC).

The War Hawks opened the night with a slow start, struggling to find their rhythm and leaving several points unfinished at the rim. Their defensive effort led to a few steals, allowing McMurry to keep control, giving the War Hawks just enough cushion to protect a two-point lead heading into the second period.
 
Entering the second quarter, the War Hawks elevated their intensity, attacking the basket with purpose and converting defensive pressure into efficient scoring opportunities. Their ability to turn steals into transition points helped shift the game's momentum.
 
The senior trio works seamlessly together, complementing each other's play on both ends of the floor. Helana Chadwick led the team with 24 points and secured a double-double, pulling down 10 rebounds. Jordan Bravo was the team's primary facilitator in generating offense starting in the second half, scoring 18 points. Aryana Cleveland also contributed 18 points and 8 rebounds, matching Bravo for second on the team in scoring.
 
The War Hawks' offense excelled in the third set, hitting 52.9% from the field and an 83.3% from three-point range in that period alone, helping them push the lead to a game-high 13 points.
 
The final minutes were intensely competitive, with Schreiner erasing the double-digit lead and tying the game late, but the War Hawks sank critical free throws in the closing seconds to lock up the narrow two-point victory.
 
The War Hawks finished the game shooting 6-for-12 on 3-pointers and owned a 48-34 rebounding advantage over Schreiner, who fell to 1-6 on the season.
