SAN ANTONIO, TX - The McMurry War Hawk women's soccer team concluded their monumental 2025 season on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 to California Lutheran in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament at Paul McGinlay Field on the campus of Trinity University. While the final score ends their season, the trip to the national tournament marks a historic first for the program, which finishes the year with an impressive 11-4-5 record.
The Regals found the net early, scoring in the 11th and 30th minutes of the first half, and adding a third goal in the 62nd minute. Despite the setback, the War Hawks demonstrated the defensive grit that defined their season.
Keeper Avery Anders was active, posting five saves against a relentless Cal Lutheran attack. Defenders Katie Wilson, Alyssa Villarreal, and Alexis Lira played all 90 minutes, battling to neutralize threats and protect the goal throughout the match.
McMurry generated seven shots on the day, forcing the Regal keeper into two saves. Sophomore forward Natalee Shaw created two opportunities for the War Hawks, including one shot on goal in the 42nd minute. Junior defender Haylie Blakley added two shots of her own, testing the keeper with a solid strike late in the second half (78th minute). Laila Brown, Audrey Pool, and Genevieve Dorasami also contributed shots to the offensive effort.
The War Hawks fought valiantly, but no goals were scored by McMurry in the contest.
