BROWNWOOD, TX — The McMurry War Hawks women's basketball team opened its 2025-2026 season with a dominant 71-52 victory over Howard Payne University on Monday evening. The win marked a successful start to the new era of War Hawks basketball under first-year head coach Laura Lange, securing her first collegiate head-coaching win.
The War Hawks were led by a potent offensive trio. Aryana Cleveland paced the team with a game-high 26 points, while Helana Chadwick was right behind her with 21 points. Jordan Bravo rounded out the double-digit scorers, adding 10 points in the victory.
The War Hawks return to action this Saturday, November 15th, when they travel to Kingsville, Texas, to face Texas A&M-Kingsville in an exhibition game. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
