KERRVILLE, TX - The McMurry women's soccer team secured a dominant 2-0 shutout victory over Schreiner on Saturday, extending their incredible conference unbeaten streak to ten games (7-0-3).
The War Hawks' offense took over in the second half. Hailey Donaldson broke the scoreless deadlock just 55 seconds into the second half, scoring the unassisted goal in the 46th minute, assisted by Haylie Blakley. Hailey Andrle added an insurance goal late in the 87th minute, assisted by Haylie Blakley, securing the 2-0 win.
McMurry controlled the game throughout, out-shooting the Mountaineers 14-3 and holding them to just two shots on target. Laila Brown led the team with four shots, while Hailey Donaldson, Hailey Andrle, and Alexis Lira each recorded a shot on goal. Goalkeeper Avery Anders was stellar, securing the clean sheet and recording two saves on the day.
With the victory, the War Hawks have secured the number two seed and a bye in the first round of the SCAC Championship Tournament, which takes place November 6-7, 9 at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas. McMurry's first match of the tournament will take place on Friday, playing the winner of the Thursday match between the University of St. Thomas and Hendrix College.
