LONGVIEW, TX - The McMurry women's soccer team continued its strong run in conference play, defeating LeTourneau 3-1 on Sunday at LETU Soccer Field. The victory moves the War Hawks' record to 5-3-2 and conference record to 3-0-1.
The War Hawks got on the board early in the first half when Alexis Lira converted a penalty kick in the 24th minute, tying the score 1-1 after LeTourneau had taken an initial lead.
McMurry's offense took control in the second half. Laila Brown gave the War Hawks the lead in the 53rd minute, assisted by Hailey Donaldson. Genevieve Dorasami added an insurance goal in the 76th minute, assisted by Audrey Pool, securing the 3-1 victory.
The War Hawks dominated the contest, out-shooting the Yellow Jackets 23-3 overall and recording 10 corner kicks. Laila Brown led the offensive effort with six shots, while Genevieve Dorasami contributed three shots, two of which were on goal. Alyssa Villarreal and Keeli Villarreal also added multiple shots on the afternoon. Goalkeeper Avery Anders earned the win, making one save.
The War Hawks will look to continue their unbeaten conference streak in their next match against the University of Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas, on October 10th at 5:00 p.m.
