CLARKSVILLE, AR - The McMurry women's soccer team extended its impressive conference run with a dominant 5-0 shutout victory over the University of the Ozarks on Friday at the Thomas and Frances Wilson Complex. The win moves the War Hawks' overall record to 6-2-2 and their conference record to a stellar 4-0-1.
The War Hawks established control early with Hailey Andrle scoring the opening goal in the 32nd minute, assisted by Halin Griffith, giving McMurry a 1-0 lead at the half.
McMurry's offense exploded in the second half with four goals. Laila Brown quickly doubled the lead in the 49th minute, assisted by Hailey Donaldson. Alyssa Villarreal then found the net in the 58th minute, assisted by Haylie Blakley. Madison Black scored the fourth goal in the 64th minute, assisted by Laila Brown. The scoring was capped off late by Natalee Shaw in the 89th minute, assisted by Ava Ybarra.
The War Hawks completely controlled the contest, out-shooting the Lady Eagles 17-5 and placing nine shots on goal. Alexis Lira led the team with five shots, while Laila Brown and Madison Black each added two shots. Goalkeeper Avery Anders played the majority of the match, recording three saves to secure the clean sheet.
The War Hawks will look to continue their unbeaten conference streak in their next match on the road in Arkansas, Sunday, October 12, when they take on Hendrix College in Conway at 11:00 a.m. at Warrior Soccer Field.
