CONWAY, AR - The McMurry women's soccer team (7-3-2 overall) continued its impressive run with a 2-0 conference shutout victory over Hendrix on Sunday at Warrior Soccer Field. The win extended the War Hawks' unbeaten streak in conference play to six games (5-0-1).
The War Hawks' offense dominated the match, firing off 28 shots and putting 10 on target. Alexandria Flores netted the opening and game-winning goal in the 39th minute with an unassisted strike, giving McMurry a 1-0 lead at the break. Genevieve Dorasami sealed the victory in the 81st minute, scoring the second goal on an assist from Cate Tempelmeyer and Halin Griffith.
The offensive effort was led by Laila Brown, who recorded five shots, followed by Halin Griffith with three shots, and Cate Tempelmeyer and Genevieve Dorasami with two shots on goal each. Goalkeeper Avery Anders earned her second straight shutout, preserving the clean sheet for the War Hawks.
McMurry's next match will put a pair of SCAC unbeatens against each other as the War Hawks travel to Seguin to face Texas Lutheran, 7-3 overall (5-0-0 SCAC), in a battle of the top two teams in the SCAC. The match will kick off at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Ocotber 17, at TLU's Gustafson Soccer Field.
