BELTON, TX - The McMurry women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday at Cru Sports Plex in a non-conference defensive showdown. The tie moves the War Hawks' overall season record to 6-2-5.
The match was dominated by defense, with the War Hawks limited to only two shots in the contest. Cate Tempelmeyer and Alexis Lira were the only players to record shots for McMurry.
The star of the match for McMurry was goalkeeper Avery Anders, who played all 90 minutes and recorded seven saves, four of which came in the second half, to secure the hard-fought clean sheet against a team that took 13 shots.
The War Hawks will look to carry their strong defensive effort into their next match when they return to conference play against the University of Dallas (3-10-1 overall, 2-5-1 SCAC) on Sunday, October 26, at 7:00 p.m. at UD Soccer Field in Irving.
