ABILENE- McMurry drops a heartbreaker at home to Trinity.
The War Hawks lost their conference matchup to Trinity in heartbreaking fashion. The Tigers were able to close a 5 point gap with under a minute left in the contest to put themselves in position for a layup in the final seconds as they went on to win the game by a single point.
McMurry fell to 3-11 overall & 1-4 in conference play, while Trinity improved to 13-3 overall & 6-1 in conference play.
The contest between the War Hawks & the Tigers was close all the way throughout. The first half saw lots of back and forth action between the two teams, as Trinity was able to take a 41-37 lead into the locker room at the half.
McMurry was able to play with more intensity in the second half and at times was able to string together some key stops on the defensive end. The War Hawks ended up out scoring the tigers in the second half by a score of 43-40, but they came up just one point short, as they fell to Trinity by a score of 81-80.
McMurry was led by Gervai Maeweathers with 19 points, followed by Kino Thompson with 17 points, while Trinity was led by Christian Green with 18 points.
The War Hawks are back in action on Sunday at 2:00PM vs. Schreiner at home in a conference match-up.
