McMurry drops conference game to Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS- McMurry men's basketball fell to Colorado College by a score of 92-75 in the Sunday afternoon matchup. The War Hawks fell to 3-10 overall & 1-3 in conference play, while the Tigers improved to 7-8 overall & 3-3 in conference play.

The first half of the contest saw a tight battle for much of the half. The Tigers went on a 14-2 run early in the first half to put the War Hawks in a hole early on, but McMurry answered the call. The War Hawks went on a run of their own to cut the lead to just 3 points before the Tigers were able to push the lead back to double digits. Colorado College closed the half on a strong note as they took a 14 point lead into the locker room at the half.

McMurry, as we've seen before, would not go down lightly in the second half. They played with a higher level of intensity to open up the second half and were able to claw their way back into the game. The War Hawks were able to chip away until they found themselves down by just a point at the midway point of the second half. The Tigers defense played with a spark as they got the extremely stingy on that end of the floor - making it hard for the War Hawks to ever completely close the gap. After some key buckets pushed the lead back to double digits for Colorado College, McMurry was never able to get over the hump as the Tigers went on to win the game by a score of 92-75.

McMurry was led by Josh Alcocer with 14 points, followed by Matt Pena with 11 points, while Colorado College was led by Devin Philio with 24 points.

The War Hawks are back in action on Friday at home against Trinity as they take on the Tigers at 7:30.
