ABILENE – McMurry men's soccer heads across town on Saturday to take on Hardin-Simmons at 7:30 p.m. and then moves on to take on the University of Dallas at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Such Drama: After playing more than an hour of clock time down a man, McMurry got the game-winning goal with three seconds remaining for a 1-0 win over Lyon. Jovani Burnett off a long throw in from Dylan Christian.
 
Going for 2-0: The War Hawks are looking for their first 2-0 start to a season since winning the first four games in 2002.
 
First Award: McMurry keeper Brandon Walker picked up the first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference award of the season and men's soccer first ever SCAC award. Walker posted a shutout with five saves in the win over Lyon while facing a one-man-down situation for more than 65 minutes.
 
History with Hardin-Simmons: Hardin-Simmons has won the last six meetings with McMurry, including a 3-0 win last season. McMurry is 4-19-2 all-time in the series with the Cowboys.
 
Scouting the Cowboys: Hardin-Simmons got its first win of the season on Wednesday over Austin College to improve to 1-1-1 after a loss at Covenant College and a tie at Berry. Jakob Fiol has three goals this season, including a brace in its AC. Maxwell Winneker and Thomas Saylae have two goals apiece. Reid Applewhite leads the team with 135 minutes in goal and has allowed 2.67 goals per game. Griffin Cardwell has a 1.00 GAA. The Cowboys have deployed three starting keepers in their three games this season.
 
History with U Dallas: The War Hawks have won the last two meetings to take a 2-1 lead in the all-time series. McMurry won the last meeting in 2022, 2-1. All three contests between the two squads have been determined by a single goal.
 
Scouting the Crusaders: Dallas lost its season opener at East Texas Baptist last weekend 2-1. Braylon Le had the lone UD goal. The Crusaders were 1-12-3 last season.
