BROWNWOOD – McMurry used a first-half goal and got a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Howard Payne on Thursday.
 
Haylie Blakley scored the game-winner in the 26^th minute. It's Blakley's first goal of the season, giving the War Hawks 10 goal-scorers this season.
 
McMurry out-shot its host 19-10 and tested the HPU keeper six times. Grace Singleton had three shots on goal to lead the onslaught.
 
Kaitlyn Gustafson and Avery Anders each spent a half in goal for McMurry and each had two saves for the combined shutout.
 
The War Hawks return to action on the home pitch on Friday, hosting Wayland Baptist at 6 p.m.
