This Week in McM Volleyball

ABILENE – McMurry Volleyball continues its season this weekend at the Millsaps Invitational, taking on Millsaps, LeTourneau, Huntingdon and Belhaven.
 
McMurry enters the tournament with a 3-2 record.
 
McM Storylines
Already Better: McMurry is 3-2 this season and already has more wins than last year. Its two losses this season have been a five-set match, followed by a loss immediately after that first loss in the University of Dallas Tournament.
 
Triple-Double: Carli Colbert opened the season with a triple-double and leads the SCAC with that showing. She is eighth in the nation.
 
Aces: With 0.67 aces per set, Carli Colbert leads the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference this season.
 
Digs: Hannah Page leads the War Hawks with 5.12 digs per set. That ranked 53rd in NCAA Division III and third in the SCAC.
 
Kills: Jennika Willis leads McMurry with 1.94 kills per set while Annikah Frank averages 1.88. The War Hawks have six players averaging more than one kill per set.
 
Feeding the Attack: Carli Colbert and Ashlyn Quillan have led the War Hawks in assists. Colbert averages 4.13 assists and Quillan checks in at 3.80.
 
Stoppage: Rylie Patterson leads at the net defensively, averaging 0.71 blocks per set. She has one solo and 11 block assists.
 
Scouting Millsaps: Millsaps improved to 6-1 on the season with a 3-2 win over LeTourneau on Saturday – their sixth win in a row. Anna Capezzera leads the team with 3.76 kills per set to go with 18 aces on the season. Zoe Elder averages 8.32 assists. Sandy Bourgeois leads the back row defense with 4.64 digs per set. The teams meet at 3 p.m. on Friday.
 
Scouting LeTourneau: LeTourneau fell to 3-5 on the season after losses on Saturday to Elmhurst and Millsaps. Hannah Payan leads the team with 2.45 kills per set and Reina Lawson has 26 aces in eight matches. Allison Smith averages one block per set and Morgan Nix gets 6.33 digs per set. The teams meet at 7 p.m. on Friday.
 
Scouting Huntingdon: Huntingdon snapped an 0-7 skid with its first win of the season on Tuesday, a 3-0 win over the Mississippi University for Women. Ashlen Janowski leads the team with 2.04 kills per set. Izzy Valldeperas leads the frontline defense with 0.67 blocks per set. The teams meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
 
Scouting Belhaven: The teams meet at noon on Saturday. Belhaven dropped to 1-3 after a 3-1 loss to the Mississippi University for Women. Megan LaCour leads with a 2.08 kills per set average. Jade De La Torre leads the defense with 2.5 digs per set.
