DALLAS – McMurry left the Metroplex with a pair of sweeps on Saturday, shutting down St. John Fisher and Lakeland.

The sweeps are the first back-to-back shutouts for McMurry since 2020.
The War Hawks bested the Cardinals in the first match, 25-23, 25-19, 25-17.

Jennika Willis led the charge with 10 kills and McM swung at .278 efficiency for the match.
Carli Colbert and
Ashlyn Quillan led with 16 and 11 assists, respectively.

Defensively,
Hannah Page had 14 digs and the front line came through with seven blocks.
Addyson Tiffin led the way with four block assists while
Jacee Dinkins added three to go with a solo block and two assists by
Rylie Patterson.

Chloe Ukle had three aces.

McMurry used a 5-1 run to take a 23-20 lead in the first set and withstood a late charge by St. John Fisher. Willis ended the drama with a kill.

The second set saw the War Hawks break open a 20-19 game with five consecutive points for the win. Quillan and Tiffin finished off the set with a block.

McM led by as many as 10 in the final set after a 6-0 run put the team up 20-10. Willis got the game-ending kill.

McMurry handled Lakeland 25-17, 25-20, 25-20.

Colbert led the War Hawks with eight kills, 14 assists and six aces. She shared the digs lead with
Hannah Page with 14. Quillan added 10 assists and Patterson was in on four blocks.

McMurry scored the first five points of the match and after Lakeland tied it at 10-10, the War Hawks launched a 7-1 run. Patterson punctuated the set with a kill.

A 5-0 McMurry run put the maroon and white ahead 24-18.

The War Hawks got out to a 24-12 lead in the final set and staved off the rally when a service error by the Muskies ended their 8-0 run.

Now 2-2 on the season, McMurry plays at the University of the Southwest on Friday.
