Game Recap: Softball |

McMurry softball recap against ETBU.

Head Coach David McNally and the McMurry softball team hosted the #2 ranked East Texas Baptist University tigers at Edwards Fields.

Game one began with 5th year senior Jenna Lewis (Hearne, TX) on the mound for the War Hawks. The tigers were able to scratch two runs in the first inning. The War Hawks fought hard putting up a strong defensive outing to shut the tigers down until the 6th inning. Where they gave up 9 runs to the tigers. Where they ultimately fell 11-0.

Game two, started 30 minutes after in which Baylee Fulps (San Angelo, TX) was on the mound for the War Hawks. Baylee was able to shut out the tigers the first inning and giving up a run in the second. The War Hawks battled back loading the bases. Where Aliyah Tanguma (Kyle, TX) was able to single to right field and score Trista Brown (Crosby, TX). With bases loaded Angelica Abila (Lubbock, TX) came up to the plate. Where she ultimately wore the pitch scoring Tristyn Barton (Belton, TX). the tigers were able to tie the game in the fourth inning. In the 5th inning the tigers put up four more runs and one more in the seventh to win game two, 7-2.

Game three, kicked off with teacher and staff appreciation day with hotdogs, chips and drinks. The War Hawks had a pregame celebration allowing residents from Betty Hardwick to come out and get some McMurry gear and run the bases. The McMurry coaching and support staff spend the first Wednesday of every month spending time with friends from adaptive recreation with sports, board games and karaoke.

Baylee Fulps was back on the mound for the War Hawks. She was able to retire the tigers the first three innings. Giving up one run in the fourth on a run down where they got the base runner out. The War Hawks battled hard racking up six hits over the game. Ultimately fell to the tigers 3-0.

McMurry softball moves to 15-7 overall and 7-5 in the American Southwest conference.

The McMurry softball team looks to bounce back. As, they make the travel to Alpine to take on the Sul Ross Lady Lobos Friday at 4 & 6 and 12:00 PM Saturday.
