ABILENE – McMurry Volleyball, after winning just two matches last season, begins play in the
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament at 1 p.m. on Friday at the University of Dallas

The War Hawks meet Southwestern, which escaped with a 3-2 home win over McMurry on Saturday.

The other quarterfinal matchups have Austin College playing Texas Lutheran and Trinity playing Schreiner at 10:30 a.m. Also playing at 1 p.m. are Colorado College and St. Thomas.

The single-elimination tournament continues on Friday afternoon and evening in Sherman with semifinals. A win by McMurry at 1 p.m. would pit the War Hawks against the Colorado College-St. Thomas winner at 7 p.m.

The championship game is at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

McMurry comes in at 14-14 after that 3-2 loss while Southwestern is 21-5.

Against the rest of the field, the War Hawks this season were 0-2 against Colorado College, 1-1 against St. Thomas and 1-0 against Schreiner, Trinity and Texas Lutheran.
