Brown Gets Hat Trick in McMurry Win

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Laila Brown got her first hat trick and McMurry claimed a 4-1 win at the University of the Ozarks on Friday.

Brown, who entered the game with no goals this season, broke the scoreless tie in the 30th minute, scoring shortly after a corner kick for a 1-0 lead.

Emily Holland scored on a penalty kick with five minutes left in the half for the 2-0 lead.

Brown completed the brace after taking the ball away from an Eagles defender and getting off the successful shot in the 65th minute. She got her third goal of the contest in the 83rd minute.

"Going on the road is always tough but we found a way to score some great goals tonight," said McM head coach Charles Nobles. "Really excited to see Laila Brown not only get her first college goal but also a hat trick! Now we have to recover quickly because we have another tough game on Sunday."

McMurry had 16 shots, including 11 shots on goal. Holland had five shots on goal, Brown had three, Jaelynn Portillo added two and Brooklyn Grove added one.

Avery Anders had one save in 72 scoreless minutes in goal for McM.

The War Hawks return to action at 2 p.m. on Sunday when they visit Centenary in Shreveport.
