ABILENE – McMurry Men's Soccer picked up its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win with 2-1 victory over St. Thomas on Friday.

McMurry got on the board in the 12
th minute when
Arik Phillips poked the ball away from the dribbling UST keeper and pushed it through for a 1-0 lead.

UST tied the game in the last 40 seconds of the half on a Daniel Castro goal.

Anthony Licea was awarded a penalty kick in the 89
th minute. UST keeper Cristo Gayoso got the save on the PK, but Licea gathered in the rebound and put the shot in the net for the game-winner.

All three McMurry wins this season have included a game-winner in the final minute.

St. Thomas out-shot its host 22-7 and
Brandon Walker came up with nine saves to get the win.

Phillips had two shots on goal to lead McM, followed by Licea,
Dylan Christian and
Jovani Burnett with one each.

The War Hawks return to action Sunday at noon, hosting Colorado College.
