ROAD TRIP CONCLUDES WITH DRAW

SHREVEPORT, LA. – For a good share of 90 minutes at Centenary College's Mayo Field, McMurry University seemed destined to notch a non-conference victory Sunday, Sept. 3.

Head coach Marquis Muse's Hawks held a shots advantage (18-14), and sophomore goalkeeper Griffin Cardwell (Plano, Texas) had kept his current scoreless streak going towards 170 minutes plus. With junior midfielder Dylan Caudle (San Angelo, Texas) successfully converting a penalty kick opportunity in the 22nd minute, the Maroon and White held a 1-0 lead into the late stages.

However, the host Gents managed to work a score in the 80th minute for a tie. McMurry attempted to sidestep the comeback, as sophomore forward Armando Saldana (Wichita Falls, Texas) had a shot attempt blocked to set up a corner kick. Unfortunately, the set piece try wasn't successful, and the clock wound down to quadruple zeroes for a draw.

With three on goal, Saldana's five offensive strikes led the War Hawks. Freshman forward Gustavo Muela, Jr., was next in line with three during a 48-minute role off the bench.
