PAIR OF SECOND HALF SCORES LEAD TO DRAW

IRVING, TEXAS – A stout effort from University of Dallas' goalkeeper tandem kept McMurry University just short of a possible seventh win of 2023 Sunday, Sept. 24.

Junior forward Emily Holland (Mansfield, Texas) wrapped up an offensive weekly resume to remember at the end of the non-conference battle at UD's home pitch. She found the back of the Crusaders' net in the 46th minute, breaking up a scoreless knot on the scoreboard. Her seven total shots, six of which were on frame, topped a 15-7 advantage for the Maroon and White.

The University of Dallas managed to even things up in the 76th minute with a score of its own. Both teams took aim at potential match-deciders in the final 13-plus minutes, but saves from both ends ensured a 1-1 final.

UD's net-minding duo of Allison Zilafro and Ella Charles combined for nine saves against the high-octane McMurry offense, as junior midfielder/forward Jaelynn Portillo (Grand Prairie, Texas) tallied five attempts, three of which were on goal and freshman forward Madison Black (Granbury, Texas) finished with two shots, both of which were on frame. Maroon and White goalkeeper Cortlynn Boone (Argyle, Texas) also had multiple saves, ending with two of her own.

McMurry (6-1-1) concludes a four-match trip with a contest against Austin College Tuesday, Sept. 26. Start time is 6 p.m.
