OFFENSIVE ATTACK SENDS MCMURRY TO NON-CONFERENCE VICTORY

SHERMAN, TEXAS – Junior forward Emily Holland's torrid offensive play showed no signs of stopping Tuesday, Sept. 26.

The Mansfield, Texas, native posted her second hat trick in less than a week, re-tying for the second-most goals in a match in school history. Her second score moved into first on the career game-winning goals chart (nine) and tied her for the single-season top spot (three). With that type of onslaught occurring in front of the Austin College goal, McMurry University was able to keep the scoreboard digits coming in a 5-1 non-conference win at Jack Pierce Complex.

Junior defender Haylie Blakley (Allen, Texas), senior defender McKenna Standifer (Flower Mound, Texas), and freshman forward Kaylee Worth (Frisco, Texas) also made headlines for head coach Charles Nobles' side. Blakley channeled her inner Mia Hamm with three dish-offs that found feet of her teammates for goals. Her three assists tied her for second-most in a match in school history. Standifer opened the scoring less than 20 minutes in, and Worth earned her second career score with a successful strike in the 47th minute.

McMurry returns to its home FieldTurf pitch on Saturday, Sept. 30. They welcome crosstown rival Hardin-Simmons for the Abilene Derby. Kickoff is 5 p.m.
