Box Score McMurry University ended the home portion of the 2023 season with a 26-24, 25-22, 25-21 loss to LeTourneau University Saturday, Oct. 28 in Kimbrell Arena.
With several people, on campus for homecoming and 100th anniversary activities, in attendance, coach Cammie Petree's squad started the first set on a 4-0 run before the opponent answered with an identical run. The Lady War Hawks later had a 6-1 run to keep the score close.
All three stanzas were back and forth. The score was tied 14 times and the lead changed hands seven times.
Senior middle/right side hitter Addyson Tiffin (Bushland, Texas), playing in her last game in Kimbrell Arena, had 10 of the team's 39 kills. Behind her were junior outside hitter Jacee Dinkins (Azle, Texas) with nine and junior outside/right side hitter Jennika Willis (Abilene, Texas) with eight. The team had 36 assists and freshman setter/defensive specialist Erin Fallon (Boerne, Texas) contributed 19 of them.
Senior defensive specialist/libero Adile Leal (Clute, Texas), also playing for the final time in Kimbrell Arena, had 23 of the team's 73 digs. Freshman setter Allison Montoya (Fort Worth, Texas) chipped in 12 digs.
McMurry had five total blocks. Freshman middle/right side hitter Rylie Patterson (Amarillo, Texas), junior setter Ashlyn Quillan (Van Alstyne, Texas) and Willis each blocked a shot and had a block attempt. Tiffin also had a block attempt.
The Lady War Hawks hit the road to finish the season Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. at University of Texas-Dallas and Nov. 4 at noon at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.
