Box Score McMurry University gave the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor all it could handle Friday, Oct. 20 in Kimbrell Arena.
On a night when three players whose first names all start with an A earned stardom, the Lady War Hawks took their game up a notch before falling 18-25, 14-25 and 22-25. McMurry got on a roll defensively and briefly led in the middle of the last set.
Defensive specialist/libero Adile Leal (Clute, Texas) and middle/right side hitter Addyson Tiffin (Bushland, Texas), both seniors, were recognized with their families. In addition, junior setter Ashlyn Quillan (Van Alstyne, Texas) recorded her 1000th career assist.
Junior outside hitter Jacee Dinkins (Azle, Texas) had eight of the team's 28 kills and was followed by Tiffin with six, and freshman middle/right side hitter Rylie Patterson (Amarillo, Texas) and freshman outside hitter Zoe Aldrich (Fredericksburg, Texas), each with five. McMurry finished with 26 assists with freshman setter/defensive specialist Erin Fallon (Boerne, Texas) leading the way with 13 and Quillan adding seven. Dinkins had 10 of the team's 36 digs and Leal contributed nine. The team had three total blocks and Patterson and Quillan each had a blocked shot and block attempt.
The score was tied 11 times and the lead changed hands four times.
The Lady War Hawks host Concordia University at noon Saturday, Oct. 21.
