LETOURNEAU THWARTS MCMURRY BALANCED ATTACK

LONGVIEW, TEXAS – Junior forward/center Elias Garcia registered a second double-double in his last five appearances, leading McMurry University Thursday, Jan. 19.

Garcia's 20-point, 13-rebound effort marked one of five War Hawks ending the 40-minute collision against LeTourneau University in double figures scoring-wise. Senior guard Remy Minor (Chicago, Ill.) tallied 19 points and dished out three assists; junior guard C.J. LeBlanc (Dallas, Texas) finished with 17 points and three assists; sophomore forward T.J. Hilliard (New Orleans, La.) posted 15 points, collected six rebounds, blocked a Yellow Jacket shot attempt, and picked up two steals; and freshman guard/forward Elijah Lomas (San Antonio, Texas) turned in 10 points off the bench for head coach Zach Pickelman's team.

An 11-0 run by the hosts broke open a nip-and-tuck affair late in the first half, giving LETU a 43-35 halftime advantage. The Maroon, Black, and White closed the gap to as little as six (72-66) midway through the second half but could get no closer inside Solheim Arena.

McMurry, falling to 4-12 overall and 3-6 in the American Southwest Conference, looks to shake off a four-game losing streak Saturday, Jan. 21. Game time at East Texas Baptist University's Ornelas Gym in Marshall is 3:30 p.m.
