KERRVILLE, TEXAS – A strong .178 team attack percentage, led by two sets of .250 or higher, wasn't enough for McMurry University in non-conference action Wednesday, Sept. 28.
Head coach
Cammie Petree's Warhawks, falling to 7-6 and ending the season series with nearby Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Schreiner University in a split, wound up the evening with four individuals in kill double-digits. Junior middle/right side hitter
Addyson Tiffin (Bushland, Texas) smashed 13 offensive attempts to the home floor side of the SU Event Center. She was followed closely by sophomore outside hitter
Keetyn Davis (Abilene, Texas) and freshman setter Lexie Miller (Abilene, Texas) who both tallied 12 kills. Fellow first-year outside hitter
Shaely Rogers (Bandera, Texas) had one her best outings in a War Hawk uniform with 11 kills.
Davis' effort didn't end up front. She registered 33 digs, four service aces and one solo block. Miller was right in there with three block assists and 22 digs. Rogers added two block assists, a service ace and 13 digs to her offensive statistics.
Despite those accolades, Schreiner managed to use a late fourth game rally for a 25-23 win after trailing 23-22. They then finished off the thriller with a 15-9 fifth game triumph.
McMurry looks to stop a two-match skid Friday, Sept. 30. They host UT-Dallas in American Southwest Conference play with a 6 p.m. first serve at Kimbrell Arena.
