MCMURRY CONCLUDES 2022 SLATE IN ASC TOURNEY

DALLAS, TEXAS – A white-hot offensive performance by third-seeded East Texas Baptist University turned out to be the difference in the 2022 American Southwest Conference tournament quarterfinal round action on Thursday, November 3.

The sixth-seeded War Hawks tried to battle back from a 25-4 first-set loss in which the Tigers hit .571 as a team. Head coach Cammie Petree's team tied it 2-2 early in the second before ETBU's front liners got their swings down again and scored 13 of the following 18 points en route to a 25-13 second set decision. In the final set at UT-Dallas' Activity Center, McMurry kept their opponents in range despite trailing 18-9 at one point. However, two late comebacks that got them within five points weren't enough in a 25-19 ETBU victory that closed out a match sweep.

The trio of sophomore Bri Garcia (Abilene, Texas), junior middle/right side hitter Addyson Tiffin (Bushland, Texas), and freshman setter Lexi Miller (Abilene, Texas) did their level best to match the Tigers. Garcia hit .417 with six kills; Tiffin tallied seven kills at a .583 rate, and Miller wound up with four kills at a .500 percentage to go along with ten assists and six digs.

McMurry closes out the 2022 season at 12-12.
