LATE RUN PROPELS TLU PAST WAR HAWKS

ABILENE, TEXAS – Junior guard Rob Charles (Houston, Texas) registered his second career 20-point-plus outing, guiding McMurry University in another close-knit non-conference battle Saturday, Nov. 12.

Charles, slashing and weaving his way through the visiting Texas Lutheran University defense throughout an overtime white-knuckle ride for both sides inside Kimbrell Arena, was eight-of-10 from the floor with many attempts attacking the rim. Charles topped five War Hawks in double digits as head coach Zach Pickelman's side had another balanced offensive sheet. Senior guard Remy Minor (Chicago, Ill.) turned in his fifth double-digit total in his last six appearances dating back to the end of the 2021-22 campaign, posting 15 points. Junior guard C.J. LeBlanc (Dallas, Texas) turned in 14 points; junior forward/center Elias Garcia (Houston, Texas) joined Charles in going to the rack for 11 points, including two thunderous dunks to go with six rebounds and three blocked shots. Sophomore guard Matt Pena (El Paso, Texas) finished with 10 points.

While having a second game in a row of four-or-more players tallying double digits, it wasn't enough to stave off a late run by the Bulldogs in overtime. After TLU saw a potential regulation game-winner roll off the front of the rim, TLU put up six of the last seven points in the extra session towards an 84-79 victory.

McMurry takes a quick crosstown road trip to Abilene Christian University Tuesday, Nov. 15, for a 7 p.m. tipoff. The match-up with the Wildcats starts a four-game road trip.
