MCMURRY STOPS SKID, ROLLS PAST LETU

ABILENE, TEXAS – A scintillating performance over the final 45 minutes of American Southwest Conference action lifted McMurry University Thursday, Oct. 6.

An 11-6 shots advantage, headlined by an unassisted goal off a rebound from freshman forward Armando Saldana (Wichita Falls, Texas) and sophomore midfielder Landon Evans' (Austin, Texas) first collegiate score, in the second half broke up a goose eggs halftime score between the War Hawks and visiting LeTourneau University. Head coach Marquis Muse's squad, dashing a three-match losing string, took home a 2-0 win in front of a happy home crowd inside Wilford Moore Stadium.

The War Hawks' 15-7 total shots edge, guided by seven from Saldana, of which four were on frame, bolstered a 90-minute defensive shutout by freshman netminder Griffin Cardwell. It was the Plano, Texas native's first such in collegiate action.

McMurry, moving to 3-5-2 overall and 1-1 in the league, is back in action on its home FieldTurf Saturday, Oct. 8. Match time against East Texas Baptist University is 7:30 p.m.
