ABILENE, TEXAS – A back-and-forth 90-minute battle that had all fans on the edge of their seats at Wilford Moore Stadium saw McMurry University and the University of Ozarks end up knotted at 2-2 Saturday, Oct. 29.
Needing a triumph to reach the American Southwest Conference playoffs, head coach Marquis Muse's group was on the doorstep after sophomore midfielder Dylan Caudle (San Angelo, Texas) rifled home a rebound into the visitors' net for a 2-1 lead in the 56
th minute. His score was preceded by freshman forward Brennan Anderson (Wichita Falls, Texas), who ripped off a 20-yard top-shelf score in the 11
th minute for the War Hawks.
However, the Eagles managed to counter each scoreboard tally with one of their own to knot things at 1-1 and 2-2. Both sides pushed the offensive envelope to the edge to get a match winner but to no avail.
Caudle's five total shots led the home side, two of which were on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Griffin Cardwell (Plano, Texas) stood firm in the presence of a 16-13 UO shots advantage. He posted two saves.
McMurry's 2022 season ended at 5-9-3 overall and 3-5-1 in the league.
