Women's tennis falls to Dallas Baptist and Trinity in home opener

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry University women's tennis team opens the season with a pair of losses against Trinity University and Dallas Baptist on Saturday, falling 9-0 in both games.

Senior Claire Hillyer went toe-to-toe with TU's Megan Flores in the No. 1 singles match for the War Hawks, falling just short in the first set 7-5. With momentum in hand, Flores would go on to secure the win for Trinity with a 6-1 third set.

Despite a 8-5 loss in the No. 2 doubles matchup against the Patriot's Sarah Castleberry and Adriana Carpenter, freshmen tandem Jasmin Klassen and Hannah DeFriend fought hard in the tough bout before sucumbing to Castleberry and Carpenter in the end.

Up next for the War Hawks is Midwestern State University Texas on Friday, Feb. 12 at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center. First serve is set for 9 a.m.
