ABILENE, Texas -- McMurry Women's tennis cruises past ETBU, defeating the Tigers, 7-2, Saturday at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center.
Claire Hillyer and
Hope Turner continued tacking on points for McMurry in doubles, as they tallied their third straight No. 1 doubles win with an 8-4 score.
Freshmen
Jasmin Klassen and
Hannah DeFriend continued their win streak as well with their second No. 2 doubles win of the season, taking down ETBU's Ashley Schenck and Cassidy Wilcoxson by a score of 8-3.
Seniors
Morgan Parnell and
Gabrielle Ellwanger claimed No. 3 doubles with an 8-6 set win over Kelsey Roberts and Faith Kirk.
In No. 2 singles, Ellwanger took down Schenck, 7-5, 6-1.
Turner stretched the limits in a three-set battle against Syvoney Ybarra, ultimately coming away with the win, 3-6, 6-4, 10-4.
Bridgette Fly took home a comfotable set win in No. 5 singles, defeating Corinne Hall, 6-2, 6-1.
DeFriend closed out the day with a win in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
The War Hawks are back in action next weekend with a trip to Richardson, Texas to face UT Dallas on March 6. First serve is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday.
