ABILENE, Texas – McMurry Women's Basketball hosted an undefeated Hardin-Simmons team to open American Southwest Conference play on Tuesday, but we're unable to pull the upset in a 71-52 loss inside Kimbrell Arena.
McMurry (0-6, 0-1 ASC) was competitive within the arc shooting nearly 40 percent (22-56), but struggled behind the arc and at the line, shooting 4-19 and 4-11, respectively. HSU (4-0, 1-0 ASC) made 28-62 field goals for a 45.2 percent clip.
Taya Bridges led the team with 11 points, five steals and eight rebounds, playing all but two minutes. Fellow junior D'Asia White went the distance and played every minute, adding eight points, five assists and three steals.
The War Hawks will have a long Thanksgiving break and return to action on Thursday, Dec. 2 at preseason No. 2 East Texas Baptist. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
