MARSHALL, Texas – McMurry Women's Basketball faced its toughest test to date on Thursday, slipping against the defending regular season American Southwest Conference champions – nationally-ranked East Texas Baptist – by a 77-33 final in Marshall, Texas.
The No. 9 Tigers (5-2, 1-1 ASC) jumped out to a 10-0 lead and remained ahead the whole way. McMurry falls to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Multi-sport athletes Kylee Smith and Allissa Rodriguez led the team in points with nine and eight, respectively, while juniors Taya Bridges and D'Asia White led the team in minutes with 20-plus each. Playing out the stretch, 16 players entered the game for McMurry.
The War Hawks have a new opportunity at their first win of the season in two days, traveling to Jackson, Miss. to take on Belhaven. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
