RICHARDSON, Texas – The streak remained unbroken as McMurry Women's Soccer claimed a 4-2 victory over UT Dallas in American Southwest Conference action Saturday afternoon in Richardson, Texas.
The win also holds historic value as it is the first time McMurry has defeated the UTD women's soccer program.
McMurry (8-2-2, 3-0-2 ASC) remains undefeated through the last nine games with seven wins and two draws. Alongside Hardin-Simmons, McMurry remains unbeaten in conference play.
UT Dallas moves to 8-5-0 overall and 2-4-0 in conference play.
McMurry's scoring lever broke late in the first frame, leading to a second half tare that would result in a trio of goals in the final 45 minutes. Despite registering only one shot in the first 33 minutes of play, McMurry picked up the pace right before the half and never looked back.
In the early moments of the 34th minute, UTD would net their first goal to take the 1-0 lead. Only 20 seconds later, McMurry's
Ashlyn Pozorski would find the back of the net for a second time this season. Off a breakaway pass across the box from
Emily Holland, Pozorski darted past a defender to sneak the ball past the goalie's reach.
Tied 1-1 at the half, the War Hawks continued its momentum in the second frame, starting with a
Meriah Sikora corner kick that led to a UTD goalie mishap. Sikora's well placed kick floated amongst several UTD defenders and McMurry jerseys before the Comets goalie would accidently tap the ball into the net in the 52nd minute.
The Comets applied pressure to the War Hawk lead once more, putting another in net in the 56
th minute, but would remain locked at two for the duration of the game.
Earning the game winner was senior
Kate Holland. Holland recorded her second goal of the season with a score in the 57th minute.

Ashland Hansen's successful penalty kick at the 76th minute tacked on the final goal for the War Hawks.
McMurry had 11 shots on the day with eight on target. UTD registered 14 and five, respectively.
Kate Holland was three-for-three in shots on target, followed by
Kara Moore's two shot attempts. Five others recorded one shot in the contest as well.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Cortlynn Boone recorded three saves through 90 minutes.
McMurry returns home for its next matchup, taking on Howard Payne on Thursday, Oct. 14 inside Wilford Moore Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
