ROUND ROCK, Texas – A late goal by Concordia Texas withstands as the McMurry Women's Soccer team falls 1-0 to the Tornados in American Southwest Conference action Saturday afternoon in Round Rock, Texas.
The War Hawks move to (10-4-2, 5-2-2 ASC) and currently sit fourth in the ASC standings. With the win, the Tornados (9-6, 7-2 ASC) shift to second in the conference behind Hardin-Simmons.
The War Hawks got off to a slow start in the first half but held the corner kick advantage against CTX, 3-1. McMurry wasn't able to put a shot on goal in the first frame but protected the net with three saves off of three on-target attempts from the Tornados.
The second half would be different offensively as McMurry would put three shots on goal out of six shot attempts. Despite five second half corner attempts, the War Hawks were not able to capitalize on those opportunities in the matchup.
On the contrary, Concordia's Marissa Funk would net the game winner in the 72nd minute.
McMurry finished with nine shots to Concordia's 12. Three shots were on target for the War Hawks, while the Tornados recorded five on goal.

Hallie Rutherford and freshman
Emily Holland with two shots. Rutherford, Holland and freshman
Brooke Boyer all recorded a shot on goal.
Goalkeeper
Cortlynn Boone battled through 76 minutes of play and registered four saves before handing the net over to senior
Brianna Monroe for the duration of the game.
McMurry returns home for its final game of the regular season as they will face crosstown rival Hardin-Simmons next Saturday, Oct. 29 inside Wilford Moore Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
