ABILENE, Texas – McMurry Women's Basketball took on the top scoring offense in the American Southwest Conference on Thursday night, struggling to slow down the Belhaven Blazers in a 91-63 loss inside Kimbrell Arena.

The Blazers shot 47.0 percent from the field (31-66) and almost 40 percent behind the arc (11-28) en route to victory. Despite the loss, McMurry saw improvement behind the arc with a 6-18 showing (33 percent). The War Hawks also went 37.5 percent from the field (24-64) and 50.0 from the line (9-18).

McMurry (9-11, 2-9 ASC) dropped its seventh straight game, falling to a 7-6 home record. Meanwhile, Belhaven improved to 13-7 and 6-5 in conference play.

The War Hawks took a 5-0 lead early in the contest, as Belhaven struggled out of the gates against McM's defense. The Blazers did not score their first basket from the floor until making a three pointer over three minutes in. BU built on their 23-17 first quarter lead throughout the game, outscoring McM each quarter.

Three players scored in double digits for McMurry on Thursday, led by post players Skyler Reyna and Destiny Mathews with 15 points and 12 points, respectively. Mathews also reeled in a team-best eight rebounds.

Freshman forward Trinity Meador found early success behind the arc, finishing 3-7 from downtown and 4-8 in overall shooting for 11 points in 12 minutes.

The War Hawks look to end the home portion of the schedule strong on Saturday, as they host Louisiana College for Senior Day at 1 p.m. Following the game, McMurry Athletics will honor seniors Skyler Reyna and Sarah Doherty in a special ceremony.
