ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University Men's Tennis bounced back Sunday to claim its third win of the season, defeating University of the Ozarks 6-3 at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center.
The match was tied at three apiece heading into the final three matches, where the War Hawks (3-6) won at numbers four, five and six to earn the win.
Freshman Reid Smith gave McM the 4-3 lead after winning at number four singles, 6-4, 6-3. Junior Joseph Diaz then clinched the victory for the War Hawks with a 6-0, 7-5 win at number five.
For the final margin, junior Trey Fambrough scored a 6-3, 6-4 win at number six singles.
McM held a 2-1 advantage after doubles, with senior Carlos Martinez and sophomore Chase Daniell earning an 8-6 win at number one and Diaz and Smith winning 8-2 at number three.
Daniell then won at number two singles, 7-5, 7-5 setting up the thrilling finish after the Eagles (3-4) won at numbers one and three.
Next up for the War Hawks is a trip to Southwestern February 29.
