SEGUIN, Texas – McMurry University Women's Tennis remained undefeated against NCAA III competition with an 8-1 victory at Texas Lutheran Friday at the Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center.
The War Hawks swept singles play after taking two-of-three in doubles action.
Claire Hillyer and Hope Turner coasted to an 8-2 win at number one, while Gabrielle Ellwanger and Neah Garza matched that result at number two.
Hillyer and Turner almost posted identical scores in singles, as well. Hiller won at number one 6-3, 6-1, while Turner claimed victory at number six, 6-3, 6-2.
Garza handled her opponent at number two, pulling away for a 6-3, 6-2 win. Ellwanger kept her foot on the gas, winning 6-2, 6-0 at number three. Morgan Parnell edged out her opponent, 6-4, 6-1 at number four.
The toughest matchup came at number five singles for Mandy Roberson. After dropping the first set 6-3, Roberson battled back in set two with a convincing 6-1 win. Roberson then won the tiebreaker point 10-5.
McMurry is back in action Saturday at 3 p.m. at Schreiner.
