LONGVIEW, Texas – McMurry Men's Tennis picked up a pair of wins in singles play Saturday, but it wasn't enough as the War Hawks dropped a 6-3 decision at LeTourneau.
Senior Carlos Martinez and sophomore Chase Daniell combined for all three of McM's wins, each winning in singles and pairing up for a doubles win.
At number one doubles, the duo collected an 8-5 win to keep the War Hawks (0-2) within striking distance heading into singles play.
Martinez won number one singles 6-2, 6-4, as McM stayed within 3-2. Daniell would later win a three-set match 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 at number two, bringing the YellowJackets lead to 4-3 with two matches to finish.
However, LETU took both of the final matches to seal the victory.
Next up for McMurry is its home opener on February 8. The War Hawks will face a pair of NCAA II schools that day at the Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center, with Midwestern State visiting at 10 a.m. and Dallas Baptist at 3 p.m.
