ABILENE, Texas – McMurry men's soccer (2-2) missed out on a couple of key opportunities in the first half, ultimately falling to Texas Lutheran, 3-0, on Saturday evening at Wilford Moore Stadium.
The Bulldogs (3-0) tallied a pair of goals in the first period, taking momentum early with a goal in the fourth minute before striking again in the 25th minute. A stingy defensive attack prevented McMurry from finding the net despite two tough shots on goal in the first half by senior
Jesus Sanchez and junior
DJ Jaime.
The War Hawks attempted three corner kicks in the second half in an attempt to rally back, but could not find the net. TLU added the final touches with a penalty kick in the 80th minute.
Despite the loss, McMurry controlled 60 percent of its possession in the attacking half. Each team tallied three saves, with all three of McMurry's coming from Aiden Keane.
McMurry returns to action next Friday, Sept. 13 for a battle under the lights against Texas College. Kickoff from Wilford Moore Stadium is set for 8 p.m.
