ABILENE, Texas – McMurry's women's soccer team fired off 20 shots with 12 on target en route to a 4-2 win over Schreiner on Friday afternoon at Wilford Moore Stadium.
The War Hawks added two quick goals in the 16th and 17th minutes, as junior forward Sky Reynolds and freshman Alyssa Daily each found the net for an early 2-0 lead.
Daily would go on to score later in the game, giving her the first collegiate goals of her career.
Coming out of the intermission, junior striker Calista Flores put the finishing touches on McMurry's third goal of the game, scoring less than two minutes into the second half. Reynolds and Kaylee Young set up Flores for the assists.
After Schreiner erased the shutout in the 71st minute, Daily would extend the lead. The Mountaineers would add a second score to their total 31 seconds before the final whistle.
Daily had a team-high six shots on the day, while Brianna Caudle pressured the Schreiner defense with four shots, two of which were on target. The War Hawks used 28 players in the contest.
McMurry will play back-to-back contests at Wilford Moore Stadium, playing host to Texas Lutheran on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 2 p.m.
