War Hawks cruise past Texas College on senior night, 7-0

ABILENE, Texas – It was a night to remember for the five seniors on the women's soccer team Friday evening, as McMurry University powered past Texas College with a 7-0 victory at Wilford Moore Stadium.

Following the win, McMurry head coach Charles Nobles and the War Hawks program honored the five seniors with a special ceremony. The five included Karleigh Alsip, Xochit Miranda, Shelby Wood, Peyton Wood and Jordan Gregory.

McMurry outshot Texas College 27-1 on the night, including 14 shots on goal. Three of McMurry's seven goals came from seniors, while Gregory recorded the clean sheet with one save in just over 86 minutes of action.

Sophomore Bri Caudle opened the scoring with her first goal of the season off assists from Sky Reynolds and Ashland Hansen. Alsip then nailed back-to-back goals within 55 seconds to make it a 3-0 contest at the half.

The second half saw a runaway by McMurry, as Miranda found the net for her first goal of the season. Later in the game, sophomore Kate Holland rolled one through. Fellow sophomore Abril Aguayo scored the final two goals.

Miranda finished with one goal and one assist, while junior Emily Fisher and sophomore Krista Thrasher each posted two assists. Senior sisters Shelby and Peyton Wood each played over 80 minutes in the game, with the former leading all outfield players with 85 minutes.

Up next, the team hits the road to take on the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m.
